Every speaker in the room talks to itself before it reaches you. Sound leaves the driver, hits the wall behind you, the glass beside you, the marble below you and arrives at your ears milliseconds later, smeared across the original signal. Digital software can change how the speaker sounds, but only physical acoustic treatment can stop the echoes.
Side wall and ceiling bounces arrive 2–8 ms after the direct sound. The brain merges them with the source and stereo imaging collapses.
Rectangular concrete rooms trap low frequencies in standing waves. Some seats feel bloated, others sound thin — same speakers, same track.
